The Museum celebrates the automobile invented by Carl Benz in 1886

A few members of the Petrolheads Welcome team visited the Mercedes-Benz Museum during a tour of Europe. In the huge rotunda building, starting from the top floor, the tour descends through a timeline of social and automotive change, starting with the invention of the motor car in 1886.
This is definitely one to add to the list of venues when touring Germany.
There is a discount for the entry fee when combined with a visit to the nearby Porsche Museum.
There is parking at and near the museum, although it’s also well-served by public transport…if you fancy day off driving whilst on your driving tour!

You can find the FBHVC’s directory of Motor Museums HERE.
Multiple floors circling down through time. Lots of interactive items as well as the cars (and trucks, buses etc). Some of the exhibits cannot be seen anywhere else. If you are in the area, then make the effort to go there. (photo ~ 1936 500K Roadster)
We visited here last year. It’s well worth a visit whether or not you are a Mercedes fan and covers a huge timescale. We decided to avoid the city centre traffic and used the tram to get there which was easy and a short walk to the museum from the stop. There did seem to be plenty of parking available though and a taxi rank outside as well.
