Motoring at the Manor – An Exciting New Event on the Calendar
Petrolheads Welcome is delighted to be supporting this new stand-out event in the crowded Petrolhead calendar. If you’re looking for somewhere to take Dad on Fathers’ Day, the exclusive Celtic Manor Resort‘s ‘Motoring at the Manor’ event is the ideal location.
We went along to the Press Launch on a glorious spring day for a taster of what’s to come:
Motoring at the Manor will take place on Sunday 16th June, the day after the established annual polo matches, to create a fabulous “Weekend of Sport and Speed” at the iconic, five-star venue.
This new motoring event will bring together a glorious collection of ‘best-in-class’ vehicles from the enigmatic worlds of Classic, Race, Super and Rally cars.
There will be a dedicated Concours d’Elegance, the creme de la creme of Europe’s finest vehicles that will be evaluated by a hand-picked panel of highly respected judges on aesthetics and detail as they decide who is worthy of the Sponsor Trophy.
Using the magnificent hospitality marquee and spectator village created for the previous day’s polo, Motoring at The Manor will be a unique opportunity for guests to view the pinnacle of automotive design and performance in beautiful surroundings.
Celtic Manor Resort Chief Executive Ian Edwards said: “Motoring at the Manor will be a fantastic addition to our summer events and we look forward to seeing the polo ponies make way for some fantastic cars and leading personalities from the world of motoring. The arena we create every summer for Polo at the Manor will be the perfect setting for this and the weekend promises to be a wonderful celebration of sport and speed.”
Tim Nash, CEO of Classic & Competition Car Events Ltd (and founder of Lombard Rally Bath), which is staging the event in partnership with Celtic Manor, said: “We are very excited to be bringing some breath-taking vehicles to Wales and putting on an event that has something for everyone. It will be a superb day out whether you are a serious petrol head or a family looking for a great day out for Father’s Day.”
Above L-R: Tim Nash addresses the press. Racing Driver Anthony Reid is an active supporter. Anthony with our very own Research Director, Gillian and local rugby legend, Scott Quinnell, another big – literally – event supporter.
In addition to the glorious static displays zones, there will be demonstration drives throughout the day as well as live stage interviews with some leading drivers and motoring personalities.
An extra adrenaline rush will be created by raffles to win ‘ride in’ demonstrations where event guests can sit in with race, rally, classic and super car drivers to really experience the thrill of motoring.
All monies raised for this attraction will be in aid of the official charity partner Mission Motorsport.
Ben Williams, Mission Motorsport Corporate Fund Raiser, said: “We are delighted to be the official charity partner for this impressive new event, not only is it going to be an incredible showcase of the great and good from the motoring industry but should also be a wonderful family day out. As a charity we are wholly dependent on third party support to continue our work; doing more, for more. We’ll be there at the event raising awareness and funds for the work we do to help ex-service men and women recover and retrain to rebuild their lives within the automotive and wider engineering sector.”
There will also be live music and entertainment throughout the day as well as a choice of delicious food and drinks available in the Food Court, and a dedicated retail village full of wonderful motoring and lifestyle outlets.
Guests are encouraged to step into the spirit of the motoring world and dress in vintage, summer glamour or racing attire. There will be an award for the best-dressed couple and best-dressed family on the day.
Tickets are now on sale from just £20 per person with picnic hampers in hospitality pods and gazebos available to make it an even more special event.
If you can’t make it, we’ll report the event on our social media and in these pages. Otherwise, we’ll see you there!
