Fancy a holiday home with owners that have a family connection to motor racing? This is what they tell us about their holiday homes:
“Sandsend Holidays is a small but well-established luxury self-catering holiday home business offering unique and luxurious facilities. It was originally founded at Raithwaite Hall in 1994 in memory of the late William Headlam, Shipowner, then relocating to Sandsend in 2007 when the estate was sold.
The Headlam family motor racing history from the 1920’s & 30’s is well documented, when William and his older brother Leonard raced for Aston Martin & Alfa Romeo.
Sandsend Holidays celebrates both their shipping and motor racing history showcasing a selection of memorabilia.
Egton Bell, so named after the last ship built in 1962, houses the ship owners’ model, the original brass ships’ bell, and was newly built in 2007 on the original site of Meadowfield Garage’s petrol pumps, which Mr Headlam had acquired in 1960.
Quite literally of “Petrolhead” provenance!
