Good To Go England (1)

Re: Covid Preparedness – Simon was a Technical Manager in Food Manufacturing and Claire has a First Class Honours degree in Hospitality Management so we `know our onions’ with regards to safety measures and protocols. Hand sanitisers are located before you enter Post Office House, outside the guest entrance; at the bottom of the stairs; the Breakfast Room and one in each guest bedroom. We are also accredited with the AA Covid-19 Confident and Visit England `Good to Go’ schemes.

We have private off-road parking as well as parking in front of our bed and breakfast.

We are also classic car/motorcycle fans (we have motorcycles ourselves) and we are on the old Great North Road: car, motorcycle and old road fanatics love this!

We provide a home from home, personal experience with award winning quality breakfasts and excellent hospitality.

We’re also handy for the annual Belford Car Show (see photo gallery below).

Check-in times 4 pm to 6 pm

Open 24 hours for bookings and enquiries as this can be done by email or by website.

Please note, we do have a very small ramp (about an inch high) on entrance to our driveway – highway stipulation to stop gravel going onto the public pathway!

Our car park may not be suitable for very large cars or those without power steering as the car park is reasonably `compact’ with not much turning (if your car is power assisted steering) – although we have one space per room and we have had a number people with both larger vehicles and classic cars park in it, not everybody may be confident to reverse out or to turn round in the car park.  However, we do wish to make guests aware that for those not confident, then cars can be parked outside our house.

You can clean your car here and we have a car cleaning service in the village who clean cars in situ.

You can also find us on Wolsey Lodges and Sawday’s.

5% discount if booking seven nights Book Now

Q Do you serve evening meals?

We do but we don’t shout about it! Strictly by advance notice and only once per stay on three or more nights booked (15 hours a day is a long day for us so we can’t do this every night! 😊) Five-course meal including local artisan cheeses and coffee - £40 per person. Supper times either 6 pm or 7pm. Guests are welcome to bring their own wine as we do not have an alcohol licence. We have a great little Co-op in the village which has a good selection of wines, beers, cider and the sparkly variety too!

Q Do you have a taxi service?

Yes, located in Belford. Our local `cabby' Gordon at Croft Cabs, very professional, reliable and reasonably priced service and has to be booked prior.

Q Do you accept one-night reservations?

No. Due to extra cleaning/disinfecting we have to implement due to Covid-19, together with our time, cost and turnaround involved, we regret we are no longer accepting one-night stays - sorry!

Q Where is the nearest petrol station?

Located two miles A1 south (Adderstone Services) and four miles A1 north (Beal Services)

Q Do you accept dogs?

No, very sorry but strictly no pets of any description (except assistance dogs).

Q How far are we from Bamburgh, Holy Island, Farne Islands?

A 10 minute drive to Bamburgh, 15 minutes to Seahouses (boat trips sail from here to the Farne Islands) and Holy Island is around 20 minutes. Holy Island is only accessible at LOW TIDE along the causeway, you can drive or walk to the island. Safe crossing times MUST be adhered to.

Q Do you cater for special diets?

Yes, but with advance notice only. We do our own separate bespoke Vegan menu (a sample menu with the choices we provide are on our website) this is extra at £5 per day. Please see our website for further information on special diets and requirements.

Q Driving routes and stop off for a pint!

Spoilt for choice in Northumberland and there are some stunning drives in the Scottish Borders too! One of our favourite drives is the road to Bamburgh where you can park up at Budle Bay to do some birdwatching or to soak up the stunning coastline here and the drop down into Bamburgh is breathtaking. Have a pint of real ale at the Black Bull in Etal (only thatched pub in Northumberland, with tasty local ales from the Cheviot Brewery. Lovely drive from Bamburgh to Ford and Etal or the other way round! Also along our stunning coastline via Seahouses, Embleton, Craster and Warkworth.

Q Where's good to eat out?

There are many lovely eating establishments in our area:
- Sunnyhills Farm Shop in Belford (evening meals Thurs-Sat in High Season)
- White Swan in Warenford (2 miles and easy access parking)
- Potted Lobster in Bamburgh (4 miles)
- Pack Horse in Ellingham (6 miles)
- Percy Arms in Chatton (5 miles).
There are many more but these are the main ones we send guests to.
Opened in 2020, due to Covid restrictions, was The Old Dairy in Ford's Bubble Car Supper Clubs, where you can enjoy a three-course meal in the safety of your own car. A really novel idea and is is strictly pre-book - we can organise this for you. There is also an extensive list of places under our website.
