Visited and handpicked by Petrolheads Welcome.

The Louwman Museum is one of the most stunning motoring attractions in Europe.

The collection was started by Mr. Louwman in 1935 and has grown into a hugely varied and interesting museum that houses not only motor vehicles of all shapes and sizes, but also motoring art and memorabilia.

Amongst the many great collections is a superb display of the work of motoring artist and illustrator, F. Gordon Crosby.

At the end of your visit, a real treat awaits as the cafe is part of a street scene from the early 20th Century, complete with a biplane and Zeppelin overhead!

We cannot do justice here to how good this museum is. If you’re planning a tour of Europe, make this one of your stops!

We understand that there is a fee for parking at this museum. However, if you’re arriving in a vehicle that’s 40 years old or more, you can follow the signs to park directly in front of the museum entrance at no cost.

You can find the FBHVC’s directory of Motor Museums HERE.

Truly one of the best

The Louwman museum has a collection of the rare, the quirky and the simply fabulous. Housed in a building designed to be reminiscent of coach house it is situated in a magnificent park adjacent to a Royal Palace and enclosed by a canal. The collection is divided into four themes. Car Nations, Motoring (a time line), Racing and Luxury. There is the exotica of the Docker Daimler golden Zebra and the Cygnet Baby Swan. The much loved, for they have both the Darracq and the Spyker from the film “Geneveive” and the lust inducing Dusenberg Model SJ among so many, many others. A collection of micro cars is as mundane as it gets. So many beautiful cars any of which we would have been happy to take home. You may well come across Mr Louwman who is approachable and happy to chat about his collection. Just don’t stand next to him at an auction as his pockets are deep
