This complex of self catering cottages in Penrith was submitted by owner Liz. This is what she says about their property:
“The Eden Valley boasts some beautiful countryside, has lots of lovely cafes and has lots of lovely lanes to drive to get to them.
From Howscales you can easily take the meandering 1,900ft climb up Hartside pass to Hartside Summit (feautured by the Sunday Times Driving), that on a clear day gives wonderful views of The Lake District and Scotland. In addition The Pennines and The lake District are also within easy reach making the driving opportunities endless, before returning back to your holiday cottage at this former farm set in a wonderful peaceful location.
The approach to Howscales does include some single track lanes. Howscales itself was a working farm and access is gained through the original farm entrance and across a cattle grid.”
Thanks Liz -we can see that a Lotus can safely make it!
Yes, we are genuinely dog friendly, but we do still adopt the standard dog rules of not allowed on furniture and bedding. For our full rules please see our website https://howscales.co.uk/eden-valley-cottages/bring-your-dog
There are two pubs in the village of Kirkoswald, both serving excellent food and real ales.
The Eden Valley lies between The Lake District National Park to the west and The Pennines to the east, within the county of Cumbria. It is a beautiful, peaceful area and boasts many pretty sandstone villages, traditional towns and lush countryside, a true delight that never fails to charm.
