Privately owned Free House - a great venue in the heart of the Cotswold Hills (also known as 'The Polo Pub')
Visited and handpicked by Petrolheads Welcome.
This pub is run by real Petrolheads, Nick and Richenda Hine. Nick is involved with a number of car clubs and was for a time the chairman of the Porsche Club. These kinds of credentials make it easy to award our Gold standard, sure in the knowledge that car fans of all types will be welcomed (as we were on a recent visit).
The car park is spacious and level, although it is surrounded by mature deciduous trees so, in Autumn when things start falling off them, you may want to park at the other end!
This pub is situated on a Y-junction so, when leaving, be wary of traffic approaching from the right.
We stopped off for lunch after visiting the Classic Motor Hub. On arrival, we were immediately directed to a parking spot away from the trees to protect the shine on our beloved Astons. How’s that for a proper ‘Petrolhead’ welcome? It was a beautiful day, so we were able to enjoy the outside seating area. Great food and excellent service…we hope to be visiting again soon!
We received a warm welcome from the staff on arrival and sufficient tables had been put aside for our 22 strong party at one end of the dining area, close to the fire. It was steak night, so most of us chose one of the 3 different cuts on offer, plus took advantage of the free drink that comes with the meal! The food was excellent, the atmosphere great and to top it all, they gave us a 15% discount for being AMOC Members! All in all, very well worth a visit. Roll on the lighter evenings and warmer weather so we can take advantage of the outside seating area.
Visited recently during a drive out. No problem parking, friendly helpful staff and the owner was very keen to learn about our car and share car stories. Great location for a stop off if you are driving the Cotswolds.
