The Petrolheads Welcome team stayed here for the MotoGP Festival, as did many of the teams, riders and spectators, most of them on bikes.
The hotel is part of a major entertainment complex that includes swimming, 10-pin bowling and a cinema/theatre.
Parking for the hotel is separate from the other activity areas, and there is lots of it. Almost the whole of the circular ground floor area is given over to parking. Consequently, many of the bedrooms look out over parking bays so you can keep an eye on your car.
The ‘security barrier’ requires no ticket to exit and so isn’t as secure as it suggests, not that we were worried about our car during our elongated stay.
Having stayed here a few times I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. It’s easy to find, being on a main road junction, but traffic noise is not a problem if you get an ‘inside’ room. I haven’t yet had an outside-facing room but I don’t think the road is so busy as to keep you awake at night (especially after a long day’s drive and a few beers). It has a few restaurant choices, a bowling alley and a feature pool that’s connected indoors and outdoors. The walk to Assen town centre is about 25 mins and well worth it.
