Car Events Are Back At Last!
Yes indeed. After many weeks of virtual concours, virtual car meets, virtual drive-outs and virtual racing, some reality has returned.
Whilst adhering to the social distancing regulations, we were able to join a few hundred other classic and sports car fans at the legendary Prescott Hill.
The Bugatti Owners Club, custodians of Prescott Hill, kindly invited a number of car clubs for a non-competitive drive up the hill with a picnic or fish & chips afterwards. Even the sunshine came out to play.
A popular way of keeping your fish’n’chips warm that dates back to the 1920s
Joining the stunning Bugattis was an array of classic and modern cars, all blasting up the hill at a maximum speed of 50 mph… which is pretty fast for much of the course!
The exhaust notes of many were also a welcome break from the relative silence of the recent weeks of lockdown. Classic E-Types, a Rover SD1 race car, Triumphs and Alfa Romeos were joined by modern Porsches, Lotus, Alfas and Astons.
Ah, the joy of petrol power in sights, sounds and smells!
Welcome back. We’ve missed you.
Yes indeed, this motoring event of 12th July 2020 will live long in the memory simply for being allowed to be there.
This is just for fun…
Can you identify these four makes of car from their sound going up Prescott Hill?
- AC Cobra
- Alfa Romeo
Start the film and make a note as you hear each car then the film will reveal which is which at the end. Good luck…
