Still a wonderful day out!
With good parking which allows you to admire the other cars it is an easy walk to the open pits and the start. It is a little tiring if you want to walk up the hill to the better vantage points - but you can always have a run up yourself in your own car on certain days. The cafe has been modernised and was serving great grub when I was there last May.
